Praj made the whole process really straight forward and the whole issue was resolved quickly. He kept me up to date with progress and expected times of arrival.

Having this mobile option was such a welcomed service when juggling work and family commitments as you are able to provide times suitable to you, which makes everything so convenient. Praj was in attendance within a few hours of me requesting an appointment.

A bit disappointing. I told the mechanic that I had engine codes coming up and that according to my ODB2 scanner they included a warning about the atalytic converter being below optimum levels, and I asked if he could diagnose exactly what was causing it, as I knew it could be a sensor, exhaust leak or catalytic converter problem. He said he could do that and then, for the princely sum of £65, he plugged in his own ODB2 scanner and came up with exactly the same codes that I had. I feel I didn't really get any more out of this than I had had before his visit.

He did help to explain that the nature of the code pointed to a sensor fault, rather than an exhaust or catalytic converter problem, so that was helpful.

And he also charged me £10 for parts and wrote up on the receipt that the problem had been fixed, however in our conversation he simply said he had cleared the fault code (which I can do myself with my own ODB2 scanner, thank you very much), and he acknowledged that the check engine light would come on again the next time I drove the car. Clearing the code isn't fixing the problem. Indeed, by writing that the problem has been fixed, the mechanic has actually put me in a very difficult position, as I wanted the report to show what the fault was so that the dealer who sold the car to me would get the problem put right. Now the paperwork suggests that the problem has been resolved (which it hasn't been) and the dealer is off the hook for any future expenses I incur in getting the car running properly.

With regard to the £10 for parts, we discussed possible solutions, including putting a particular additive in the fuel tank and fixing or replacing the sensor, but he didn't actually do anything to fix the problem, so I really am quite in the dark about the £10 for parts.

Reply from Praj:

Hi Tom,
I would like to apologise for the confusion hopefully I will be able to clear up any confusion. With regards to pricing the work it all gets quoted and invoiced through clickmechanic as we as a mechanic simply carry out the work and invoice it with a tap of a button. However I would like to apologise for the mistake we have made by unknowingly suggesting it had been resolved. If there is anything we can do from our end to help resolve this issue we are more than happy to write up another report for you. Thanks.
