I'm not a mechanic.
This is a warning to all those who are also not mechanics.
My handbrake failed locked on. The RAC came out, released it in less than 3 minutes and said I needed a new brake cable. I needed my estate car to take 4 adults and luggage to an airport in 4 days time. My local garages said they didn't have availability so I looked online and came across click mechanic. I booked a mechanic to come out the day before we were due to go to the airport. It was the earliest slot. The mechanic arrived 6 hours late and in the evening replaced the brake cable. They then explained that this would not fix the handbrake as I had specified the wrong cable.
I am not a mechanic.
I'm sure they did a lovely job replacing the cable that didn't need replacing, but I would have preferred they called me an idiot and just charged for call out.
They also felt the need to point out other faults they would like to fix on the car. For some reason, I wasn't interested.
Surprisingly you can fit 4 adults with luggage in a Peugeot 108 to our amazement, so holiday saved.
However, I will not use click mechanic ever again. The car is now booked into a garage where they will replace the broken bit rather than the bit that a non-mechanic like me suggests.
I believe I have been honest and I have not disputed the payment - they did what was asked. I just think that doing the work before pointing out that it was the wrong cable was poor.

The mechanic wasn’t friendly nor knowledgeable he is rude and has lied a lot! If I was you I would stay away. ClickMechanic claim that it is reliable independent mechanics however Igor and his gang of 3 works were assigned to my car which they “fixed” on the Friday and the car was broken again by the Monday. I don’t believe this mechanic has the relevant skills nor people skills (not blaming ClickMechanic as they are trying to mediate a very hostile Igor) please stay away from this mechanic he is a rogue trader and has been reported to trading standards

Friendly and helpful. I'm happy with the work they carried out. They fitted a new clutch and flywheel which is a big job. The car now drives like new.

Igor was tremendous. Arrived on time and carried a clean and efficient repair. I highly recommend home and his team.
