I started my career as a mechanic by completing an apprenticeship over the course of 3 years which I was rewarded with a Level 2 Qualification. I worked for a few local garages in south east London to gain a bit more experience before pursuing a couple other skills/aspects within the automotive trade such as breakdown recovery, welding and fabricating and trained to complete MOT’s. All of the above has then led me to open my own garage and recovery company at the age of 21, D2 Tuning Services.

The mechanic accepted the job quickly, which seemed promising. I explained the issue and what I’d already tried, but he just repeated the same steps without further insight. He suggested the ignition barrel might be faulty, and I asked if he could handle the repair. He said yes but wouldn’t be available until the following week, which I agreed to. He promised to send me a quote, but it never arrived.

He also offered to pick up my battery the next day to charge it and set a time, but he didn’t show up. When I followed up, he responded later, saying he couldn’t make it. I mentioned that I urgently needed my van and suspected the battery.
He placed an order for a new battery, which I authorised, only to be told the next day that he was no longer using the platform. I agreed to pay for the job and he fitted a new battery the following day, but two days later, it was completely drained again—clearly showing the battery wasn’t the issue.

When I tried to reach out to discuss the unresolved issue, he ignored my messages. Now, I’m out over £300, and my van is still in the same condition as when we started.

Poor communication and customer service. Very disappointed.
