I felt like this guy was trying to rip me off. He firstly said that he’d be late at the job as he was having trouble with sourcing the part. Then, he said he could only source a manufacturer approved part which would cost double the agreed price. He then asked to come and look at the car before ordering the part to make sure of the fault, despite the RAC man having confirmed the problem. I couldn’t understand the issue with sourcing the part so I searched for the part myself and found two locally with reputable garages - he offered to fit the part if we sourced it, but without the 12 months warranty. When we said we were happy for him to wait for him to source the part, but were not happy to pay for double for the manufacturer part, he cancelled the job and tried to charge us for the cancellation fee. Hello mark, my parts suppliers i use will not supply the part you wanted, therefore i could not get it unless dearlership had it which they did and because of a non-returnable part, for your best intrest and to save your money and avoid replacing wrong parts, i was giving you a free journey up to you just to make sure it was right, i was helping you the best i can sorry this wasnt enough and even if you waited like i said to your partner who was at home at the time aswell as you on the phone i phisically could not get the part other than from dearler. I spoke to you at the start in the morning about the changes and you said yeah lovely go ahead with work and no problem to me coming up just to check then after i arrived you suddenly changed your mind about the whole job and you said cancel the job ill get one of my mechanic friends to do the job. theres nothing wrong with double checking for your best intrest.
