The mechanic, Dean, had to reschedule the initial appointment to the following day due to a delay in the delivery of the required part. During the appointment, he went to pick up the new washer pump but returned without it, mentioning its high cost and seeking confirmation before proceeding. Although he did not have the new part, he attempted to fix the existing washer pump and showed that it seemingly "worked" when connected directly to the battery, and the front light washer also operated during a computer testing mode. Despite these attempts, it became apparent that he lacked the necessary knowledge to correctly identify the pump as the root of the issue, which was later confirmed and resolved by a Skoda dealer. Dean seemed amicable and genuinely tried to solve the problem, but the lack of accurate diagnostic and the subsequent suggestion to visit the dealer led to additional costs and a prolonged wait to rectify the issue. His hesitance to replace the pump as initially requested caused inconvenience, as I had to pay for diagnostics twice and endure an extended waiting period for a dealer appointment. Although I provided all the necessary details about the car model and fault type in advance, it seems Dean might not have had enough experience with my type of vehicle, which perhaps should have deterred him from accepting the job in the first place. Dean explained what he had to do, showed me the worn pump and replaced with new. He was very honest and mentioned a few things to look out for. Would highly recommend.
