The job was accepted, and I received the "Don't worry sit back" saying, the machanic said he would be about an hour, to hour and half, 50 minutes later a knock on my door, He couldn't do it, Never done one of those before..I was told. So after waiting in, have my van booked in for re test the next day this couldn't happen, so it left me in the lurch to say the least. And having to find a machanic who can do the work, as well as it costing me another £58.00 for another mot. And loss of earnings as u couldn't use the vehicle as no mot and no new part fitted!.. so in all I lost in excess of over £1000. Absolutely ridiculous. I personally would not take a job on if I can't do it!. The guy was polite and sorry for what happened .. I personally won't use this service again I'll rather go to a business that can do the job . I’m sorry you feel this way. As I explained after attempting to do the job the part was seized into the hub and after breaking my thumb on attempting to remove I wasn’t is a fit state to continue. Even though I was there for 50 minutes I didn’t charge you for my time I also lost time and money attempting this job. I even offered to give you the new part for free as an apology for your inconvenience.
I don’t recall saying I have never done this before - I have been a mechanic for nearly 14 years I have done plenty of them. I agree with you I wouldn’t take on a job that I didn’t know how to do - I have tried before and it isn’t cost effective.
As I hope you can imagine there is only so much tools/equipment I can have on my van and there is only so much that can be done at the side of the road before the job starts to become unsafe. I tried everything then after injuring my hand (broken thumb) I see the job as dangerous and chose to admit defeat and that a workshop was needed to continue the repair. Also as I explained to you I didn’t want to attempt the removal so bad that the van would become immobile and cause you further costs in recovery. Unfortunately not every job goes to plan especially roadside but as you can see by my other reviews this is a very rare case.
Maybe in these circumstances where a job becomes dangerous Click Mechanic could assist the customer with using one of the mechanics on here with a workshop.
