How can we help?
What is a standard EV charger installation?
A standard EV charger installation includes:
• Mounting your chosen charger securely on a brick, plaster wall, or another appropriate permanent structure.
• Routing the cable through a drilled hole in the wall, accommodating thicknesses of up to 500mm (20 inches) as necessary.
• Installing and neatly securing up to 15 meters of cable along the wall, connecting the distribution board to the charger at a maximum height of 1.8m.
• Ensuring all electrical connections are appropriately established at both the supply origin and the charger.
• Incorporating a Type C MCB into the installation for enhanced safety.
• Concealing interior wiring with up to 3 meters (10 feet) of plastic conduit or trunking.
• Conducting thorough electrical testing and providing NICEIC Certification for compliance.
• Introducing a dedicated two-way distribution board if your current fusebox lacks suitable spare "ways."
• Demonstrating the functionality of the charger and its accompanying app, if applicable.
