The mechanic kept me informed of all the work that needed doing and to be outside working at 7 o clock at night when it was minus 2 absolute legend
I then moved on to work with a Honda main dealer for a year as a Technician and here gained my ATA service technician accreditation status before moving into the breakdown assistance & roadside recovery sector with the RAC for 4 years working as a roadside technician.
This position gave me alot of experience as it held a great deal of responsibility, independence and customer service - working alone every day and operating from my patrol vehicle, supported via a control centre but under my own initiative, covering an approximate 50 mile radius. Here I gained many attributes from customer facing skillls with all sorts of people in all sorts of moods and situations at their homes, work place, out and about or road side to actioning inventive and resourceful roadside repairs to allow people to continue their journey. This role also included recovery of people and their vehicles in all types of different and hazardous environments while remaining calm and keeping them safe as well as live time situation fault finding and diagnosis skills as you need to try and find and fix faults quickly in those situations where people are stranded or on the way to something somewhere, especially when you have a stranded family roadside on their way to the airport ;)
Following on from the RAC, I worked with Kwik-Fit as a mobile and static master technician for 2 years and gained my ATA diagnostic technician accreditation status.
In this role I was consulting customers with regards to their vehicle issues, diagnosing the fault, pricing the job, sourcing the parts and then fixing the car. This role was as close to working for yourself as possible while working for a company and was left and trusted to my own devices to serve customers in the best way possible delivering the best customer service possible. I worked on all makes and models here and gained a tremendous amount of experience in vehicle fault finding and repair as well as customer service.
I subsequently moved to Jaguar/Land Rover main dealership working as Technician for 2.5 years before completing my employment here in November 2018. I engaged in alot of training while in this position in everything from Suspension/Chassis systems, Electrics and fault finding, Diagnostic machines and even Electric and hybird vehicles. Working at JLR, I worked on only high end prestige vehicles and dealt with customers who expected very high standards of customer service as well as highly skilled technicians to resolve the complex issues they experienced with these super technical and advanced vehicles. Driving these machines was a high light of the job. I ended my employment here to start my own business and work for myself in a full time capacity.
Although I initially began working for myself in a part time capacity in 2017 (at evenings/weekends outside of my day job to build a clientele)
As of November 2018 I began work full time for myself trading as Accura Vehicle Solutions and offer full workshop facilities as well as a mobile service, I also offer a free collection/delivery service for customers or a mobile mechanic service if preferred. All aspects of mechanical and electrical diagnosis & repair are taken on with makes/models catered for at Accura. Read more
