“The mechanic was friendly and reassuring about the vehicle. Explained the minor issues he found and reassured me about my purchase. However, he failed to pick up on the fact that 2 tyres were not road legal, marking tyres and wheels in good condition (not even fair) in the report (these were subsequently picked up during the MOT the following day and MOT failure - one a ‘dangerous’ defect and one a ‘major defect’). I really do hope this was all that was overlooked, but it has left me slightly concerned now about the quality and reliability of the rest of the inspection. I paid for a premium inspection (site says 2-3 hours work) and the seller advised me the mechanic had the vehicle for less than a hour - which is fine if they get the work done in super quick time and still do a thorough job - but tyres are basic. If corners were cut here I’m guessing they possibly have been elsewhere. Time will tell I guess, but I am somewhat nervous now, and the whole point of a pre inspection was to feel confident and secure with the purchase.”
