Booked online for 8-10am slot for work to be carried out on our driveway.
Mechanic arrived at 10:40 and took the car away.
Mechanic got back in touch at 13:48 to inform me the engine would have to be removed, quoted £1,119.77 & asked if I wanted the car returned today or to leave it with them for the quoted repairs to be done.
I told the mechanic I certainly did NOT want any work doing & needed my car returning ASAP.
I have texted the mechanic at 14:35, asking for an ETA for the return of my car.
I am awaiting a reply.
I will be getting a 2nd opinion elsewhere, as £1,119.77 sounds outrageous to repair a small coolant leak (requiring a 1/2 ltr top up every 2-3 days)

Dear customer,
Thank you very much for your review.
First of all my apologies for the slight delay due to the road closures on my way in the morning.
Secondly, the quotation provided is based on the fact we found that the two separate point of leaks at the back of the engine and water pump as evidenced with pictures & even videos.
The leaking point at the back of the engine is a crucial location to repair.
The engine has to be removed and fitted back in order to repair the leak properly and the labor time has been consulted based on the HaynesPro Workshop technical data.
The water pump leaks should also be sorted as it's a pressure building point and it's advisable to replace it with a gasket/ sealant.
The car had been on the ramp until I finish the paperwork and upload evidences and finalize the communication on the portal and you as a customer.
Everything has been done following the procedures, our garage is about 40 minutes drive from your house and when I picked it up you didn't mention of delivery and as garage we have to make sure whether the customer wants to repair it or take it back. We just followed the procedure as professional as possible in order to give a higher standard service.
We understand your frustration on the water leak issue and try to help you as much as we can.
